Roberto Pombo

Roberto is a South African theatre maker, educator and physical theatre performer. He graduated with an Honours degree in Dramatic Arts from WITS University in 2008 and went on to complete a three year intensive training at the acclaimed Helikos International school of Theatre Creation in Italy.

Since 2008 Roberto has toured Australia, Europe and South Africa with his work. Some of his credits include: Robin Orlin’s Dressed to Kill, Kill to Dress; Jerome Bell’s Shirtology as well as participating in the Johannesburg Pavilion residency at the 56th Venice Biennale.

Roberto received a Naledi Award nomination for Best Newcomer in 2012 as part of Allen Bennett’s; The History Boys. In 2016 he received a National Art’s Festival (NAF) Ovation Award for Rat Race.

He currently resides in Johannesburg where he works as an actor, voice artist, educator and theatre maker.
