Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni
Rosemary Zimu began her career in theatre, starring in the South African production of Moulin Rouge. In 2014, she made her feature film debut in the Nollywood movie Champagne, earning a nomination for Most Promising Actress of the Year for her role as a femme fatale scam artist.
She later appeared in South African TV shows like Wena Wedwa, Isidingo, Generations: The Legacy, and Scandal. Rosemary joined the cast of The Queen, one of South Africa’s most popular shows.
With the launch of Netflix in South Africa, she secured a featured role in the Netflix original series Shadow, and a starring role in the Netflix African original series Savage Beauty, which premiered in May 2022. In August 2022, Ayeye: Stripped was released, with Rosemary portraying Zoleka, a 30-year-old on the brink of destitution.
In February 2023, Rosemary played a detective by day and led an all-female assassin group by night in Nine – The Movie, which was featured at the Johannesburg Film Festival and made its first international premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in 2024.
Rosemary was the lead and the sole South African cast member in the film. In the same year, she joined the cast of the Mzansi Magic telenovela My Brother’s Keeper, taking on a pivotal role. Savage Beauty Season 2 premiered on Netflix globally on 28 June 2024.
